Playing with the Players

Last night, my friend Karen came over to craft with me.  I thought it would be fun to use a sketch and see what we could both come up with.

Here is my card.  I used scraps of the Wildflower Fields designer series paper, which I flagged by hand.  Some Whisper White cardstock for the base and the sentiment is from the Grateful Bunch stamp set.

This sketch is from the Paper Players blog.

Sketches are fun, and its a great way to inspire your creative juices if you are stuck for a card design.

The Paper Players are fun to play with, and challenges are set every week.  Try one, you will like it.

I hope you like my card....and if you would like to purchase any of the products I used to make this card, please visit my online store, or simply click on one of the pictures in the product list below for more information.

Easter Blessings

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend??  Mine was fabulous...although it started a bit on the rocky side, as I feared I was catching my husbands bad cold.  But stuffing my body full of vitamins and cold medicine seemed to do the trick.

I did a fair bit of crafting....made these adorable little boxes, which I filled with covered mini eggs.  These were for my guests on Easter Sunday for dinner.  12 in all.  They were actually wedding favour boxes, but I adapted them for Easter and used the lovely Wildflower Fields designer series paper from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue to make them.  Gotta love free stuff.

Sunday morning, before the turkey went into the oven, I made two cards..."You're In My Thoughts" and "Feel Better" both with the same stamp set, Best Thoughts, but completely different colours.  I will blog about them as soon as they have been received.

Then once the turkey was in the oven, and I had a few hours to kill.....well, you guessed it, I went into my craft room and made this adorable little box set, containing four  3" x 3" cards and envelopes.

I used Pool Party cardstock to make the box, and the Birthday Boutique designer series paper on white card stock to make the cards. Used the large oval punch for the sentiment "For You" love that little punch.  I have to get the scalloped edge oval punch soon!!  Added a few of the little candy dots to flair.

Love this little box, and can see myself making lots more.  Great way to use up the little scraps of designer series paper too.

Today I made the two cards we will be making in my April 2 Class.  Can't tell you about those, as its such fun to surprise you all. More details about the Class tomorrow on the blog and stay tuned.  So that was my lovely long Easter weekend.....hope yours was as much fun as mine.

Honeycomb Happiness

I was so excited to get my new stamp set this week. It is called Honeycomb Happiness and is so darn cute. At first I couldn't see the point in getting the little chick other to be used around Easter...which is upon us this weekend, but I saw this fabulous card posted on Pinterest of the little guy painted as a robin. Well that was it for me....had to have it.

Here he is as a wee little yellow chick.

Be sure to check my Facebook page tomorrow to see the cutie as a Robin. Oh yes...I now have a Facebook page.

Check it out

Happy Easter everyone.

Where is Spring?

Hard to imagine spring is here...when you fling back your curtains in the morning and see this!  Mind you, it does look absolutely beautiful, and right away our "Lovely as a tree" stamp came to my mind.  I shall have to dig it out and make up a card with it tonight.

In the meantime, let's try to imagine there is no snow here..just lots of spring lambs and pretty meadow flowers.

I made this card using Lost Lagoon cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Oval Framelits, the gorgeous little Easter Lamb wooden stamp and pretty flowers from the Number of Years acrylic stamp set.  I added a few little rhinestones for sparkle and some glitter from the wink of stella pen on the lamb.  Hope you like it.

This Week In Colourful Cards

Well what a great week this has been for Colourful Cards.  Wednesday, my March Paper Pumpkin arrived from Stampin Up with a special note!!  "We're celebrating our third birthday and we just shipped our ONE MILLIONTH KIT!" Can you million kits, and I am told, in honour of that there will be a special gift in next months box.

I had so much fun that evening putting it together...want to know what was in the box??  Comment below and I will show you pictures.

Then Saturday I did a craft show in the beautiful town of Merrickville, displaying my colourful cards, easter treats and boxes....all for sale at fabulous low prices (well compared to the cards in the store's ha ha).  It was a fundraiser too....for the Furry Tales Rescue and A Chance Rescue and I was thrilled to hear tonight, that $2,000 was raised.  I had so much fun, chatting to people about my new passion - card making and papercrafts.

My next craft show will be in Oxford Mills on April 9th, another fundraiser for the Girl Guides & Rangers this time.  Love sharing my new passion with others.

Did you know....every single Tuesday, Stampin Up puts five items from the catalogue on sale.  Amazing deals that change every week, so be sure to stop by and check them out.  Click on this SHOP NOW link to go directly to my store to see this weeks amazing deals.

Another great deal you may not be aware of is actually the reason I joined Stampin Up.   So you all know I went with a friend to a Stampin Club one evening back in November last year.  Fell in love with making cards.  I had a Stampin Up party at my house the following month, then another the month after.   The demonstrator - Sandy - told me I should join ..."especially now." Why now I asked??  Well, until the end of March, during their Sale-A-Bration time period anyone who joins Stampin Up and pays $125 gets $195 worth of products, stamps, paper etc....which you get to choose yourself, its not pre-picked...AND the big one for me, FREE SHIPPING on the entire order!

Great way to purchase your favourite products at a discount....or use it to make a little extra cash and hold the odd Class or Workshop.   If you would like more information, either contact me....or click on this link to go straight to my website to learn more.

Easter Treat Box Anyone?

On Friday evening, my friend Karen came over to craft with me.  I hardly let the poor girl talk as I was so excited to show her my new Envelope Punch Board.  It was one of the Tuesday weekly specials that I simply couldn't resist.  Not only does it make "Any" size envelope for "Any" size can use it to make boxes and other paper-crafts.  Here is one of my favourite little treat boxes at the moment.  This project uses just a 6" x 6" piece of DSP.

For mine I used the Have A Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack, and fastened them with a mini brad.  I thought they would make lovely little Easter treat boxes, so filled them with the wrapped little mini eggs and although you don't see it on this picture, punched out the words Happy Easter with my new large Oval punch and popped it on the top.    I made a few to take with me to the craft fair next weekend.   I also thought they would make great little Tooth Fairy boxes.  What do you think???

St. Pawty's Day Vender Bazaar

I am getting ready for my first craft show - March 19th, 2016.  Its the second annual St. Pawty's Day Vendor Bazaar and a fundraiser, where all proceeds go to Furry Tales Rescue & A Chance Rescue.  Being a dog owner and cat lover...our furry friends play a huge role in my I am thrilled to be taking part in this.  My first one as a Stampin Up Demonstrator!!

I am busy making cards and gifts that would fit any occasion or upcoming special events, like Easter for example....and came up with this one.

I used Blushing Bride cardstock and the beautiful Birthday Boutique DSP for layering.  The adorable elephant showering hearts all around is actually from Michael's along with the Easter Blessings stamp.  I coloured the image in using Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron inks and my blender pen, and finished the elephant off with a wink of stella to make him sparkle.  I added some little heart confetti to finish the magic.

Thought this card was a good fit for this weeks
The Paper Players challenge...what do you think??

Oh so cold....

I cannot believe how cold its been today.  As I type this ....I think its only -11 with a windchill of -17....but boy is it windy!!   Just took my little dog for a walk before bed and neither of us made it past the end of the driveway.  And apparently there is another major snow storm coming in overnight....great!  This had better be March coming in like a LION so it can go out like a LAMB!!

Talking of lamb's...check out this cute little lamb.

I used Lost Lagoon cardstock, Whisper White cardstock and some All A Bloom designer paper, which I think is retired now.  The adorable little lamb is from the Occasions catalogue and is called Easter Lamb, its a wood mount stamp but so adorable for only $12.00 cdn.  The flowers I stamped in Lost Lagoon and Daffodil Delight with the stamps from February's Paper Pumpkin kit.  Then added some little candy dots and rhinestones.  I hope you like it.
