Classes and New Friends

Last Friday night was my monthly's one of my favourite things to do, invite friends over to stamp with me. Three lovely ladies came over and we made two cards. We chatted, we drank tea, we laughed all while crafting and playing with paper.  So relaxing.  Here is what we made.....

The first card we made used the little notecards from Stampin Up and some lovely birthday boutique designer series paper. The second card, a bouquet of petite petals (the first stamp set I ever purchased from Stampin Up)...some we stamped and some we punched out. So what do you think??  Would you like to join me one evening to play with paper, stamps and ink??

My next class has two options to fit your busy lives.  Either Friday May 13 at 7:00pm OR Saturday May 14 at 10:00am.  Both classes are two hours and cost $10.  It's the same two cards each day, you just choose what day suits your schedule.  We will be working with card stock, english garden designer series paper, garden in bloom stamp set, vellum paper and embossing powder.

South Mountain Post Show

I am super late in blogging about this, but last Saturday I did a vendor show in South Mountain with my Colourful Cards.  The Mothers Day Shopping Extravaganza.

While we did not have many shopper, because let's face it, the weather was so beautiful, I met the most amazing women.  All of these women have created fabulous businesses for themselves from direct sales.

Chris Clapp hands down won the most beautiful table as far as I was concerned. The colours she used to display her products reminded me of Stampin Up colours, I found myself trying to match up our inks and paper with them.  Chris is an executive consultant with Rodan+Fields, a dermatology-based skincare line.  Check out her website, and see if you can match up our inks and colours with her four skin lines, Redefine, Reverse, Soothe and Unblemish.  Leave a comment below with your suggestions and let's see if we think alike!!  Her website can be found at

The most delicious table was manned by Michelle Jackson and her daughter.  MJ's WOW Cakes.  She had three different types of cup cakes, and believe me, they were yummy.  Naturally I had to try one. She makes one of a kind cakes, amazing deserts and she specializes in nut and lactose free baking!! Check out her Facebook page here:

During the day, attendee's and vendors received a raffle ticket....for prizes donated by the vendors.  Guess who won one!!!   Me.  My prize was a pair of leggings from Tracy Raistrick of Black Sheep Leggings.  Find her on Facebook to see the vast aray of colours and designs.  Black Sheep Leggins by Tracy Raistrick.

This is the pair I won......can't wait to try them out with a lovely long summer tunic top!!

That's all for tonight soon.

New Page Layout

So some of you may have noticed that my blog layout has changed slightly.  I wanted to make this blog your "go to" place to find out all about my Colourful Cards.  To see my latest creations, find out where I get my fabulous products, watch out for upcoming vendor events where I sell my cards, plus find my class and workshop schedules, so you can learn how to make your own Colourful Cards too.

Of course, I couldn't have done this on my own....I called a friend.  Sandy popped over one evening last week and helped me sort out the technical stuff.  It took her maybe 10 minutes to set me up and show me how to do the rest myself.  Sandy has her own business, doing just this and more.  She specializes in web and graphic design, writing and editing.   Check out her website:

Thank you so much Sandy, for all the help and lovely visit over a cuppa tea!!

Spider Webs and Special Occasions

As I sit here this morning and watch the cardinals, chickadee's and some other noisy little black bird swooping onto the bird feeder, I noticed the sun catching on the bare brown branches.   No buds starting yet, but all the tree's were linked with sparkling spider's webs.  I had never noticed that before, or perhaps I had never been up this early before. It was quite magical.

Here is a card I made this past weekend for another magical occasion, my friends daughter Charlotte was being confirmed.  I wanted her to remember the special occasion with more than just a I made a detachable bookmark for her to keep forever.

Hope you like it....I heard she did :)   Have a great day.

Mother's Day Shopping Extravaganza

This weekend, I am going to be bringing my Colourful Cards to another vendor show.  This event is a Mother's Day Shopping Extravaganza and will be held in South Mountain.

South Mountain is not terribly far from my house, but as Megan will be driving....and I will be navigating may just take longer than normal.  For one, I don't really know my left from my right, childhood hang up I I typically point, which might confuse some people as I tend to talk with my hands.  It will be an interesting drive.

And two, I actually don't drive!  Tried once, back home in England..couldn't co-ordinate my feet and hands, so changing gear was a challenge.  Here in Canada, I tried again.  I was turning 50 and thought I should learn before my youngest son got his license that year. Yeah that didn't work...even with an automatic car, my husband was very calm and a good teacher....but after I drove into the garage door on my second lesson.....nope, that ended the whole driving escapade.  Quite happy to be chauffeured around now, or ride my bike.

Here is a nice little card I made last night in preparation for Sunday.....

Come out and see the Colourful Cards, and the 30 other vendors there will be there.  I understand there will be a fashion show with Main Street Clothing and Stella & Dot.  Plus lunch will be available and great prizes up for grabs.

Sunday 10:00am - 3:00pm    --    2967 Lough Rd, South Mountain

The Last Weekly Deals

So here it is folks, the very last week of the Stampin Up Weekly Deals.  What will you buy?   Me, I am going for the Sweetheart Punch.  I saw a lovely card on Pinterest a few weeks ago using this punch and thought I just have to have it! So although I am sad to see the Weekly Deals go....I am super happy this punch was included in the last week.  As soon as it comes in, I will showcase a few of the cards I make with it.  Watch this spot!!

Post Show...

Saturday I was at another craft fair...this time a fundraiser to help the Oxford Mills Guides and Rangers.

I met the most fabulous people there, and over 20 of my Colourful Cards went home with new owners.  I hope the person they give them to, gets as much pleasure from them, as I did in making them.

As always, I enjoy meeting the other vendors that are there.  Heather Snow, an independent distributor with Sweetlegs had the neatest display.  Heather is from Merrickville and you can find her on Facebook - click this link.

The most beautiful display was from Louise Thompson, a consultant with PartyLite.  The twinkling, sparkling, warm t-lights and votive candles brightened up the room. Check out Louise's website here

The most interesting vendor was Nikoletta Voulgaris, who is a Reiki Master - Teacher from Ottawa.  She also did angel card readings too.  Her presence was hard to miss with her beautiful long curly hair....and she had on the most magnificent necklace, which I just had to touch.  The crystal just drew me in. You can find Nikoletta at

So now I have lots of cards to make this week, as Sunday I will be at another vendor/craft show.  More news on that one later this week.  Untill your colours and have a great week!!

Oxford Mills Spring Fair

I am doing another vendor show this weekend.  This time to help out the Oxford Mills Girl Guides.

Vendor shows are so much fun.  First off, I get to showcase my Colourful Cards and pretty boxes.  I get to meet lots of new people that I can talk to about my Colourful Cards ...the Classes I offer, Stampin Club and Workshops.  I mean, wouldn't you like to know more about Stampin Club and how you can earn FREE products from my online store???

Second, its great fun hanging out with the other vendors.  One of my favourites, Megan Glenn from Good Vibes will be there.  If you have not heard of her, she is a young lady who designs and sews her own accessories, from infinity scarfs to makeup bags.  As if that is not enough, she also donates volunteer hours to local groups based on the amount of items she sells at her craft shows. Impressive young lady...check out her Facebook Page.

And Third, let's help the Oxford-On-Rideau Girl Guides and Ranges raise funds for their trip to Toronto.  Come out and support them, you will be glad you did!!

Saturday April 9   8am - 1pm
Oxford On Rideau Public School, 50 Water Street, Oxford Mills.

One Stamp - Two Messages

Last week I needed to make two cards, with completely different messages. One a sympathy card, and the other a get well card.  Since I had one of my favourite stamps out, I thought I would try using it for both cards.  Just changed up the colour of the cardstock and ink.   What do you think??

Here is what I used to make these cards if you want to have a go yourself.  All these products are available at my online store.  Please use Hostess Code 2Z26MURP when you order so I can send you a lovely card and little gift at the end of the month.
