Weekend of Cards & Crafts

Such a great weekend!   Started off with my friend, Karen, meeting me for dinner on Friday night.  Then back to my place for some card making fun. Karen used to own her own scrapbook store many years ago (how cool would that have been), and because of our recent card making craze she dug out some stuff from her storage locker to share with me.  Love that girl!!

Check out one of the cards I made.  This one is using a Sizzix card circle flip it die and some lovely light green cardstock.

I used some All A Bloom Stampin Up designer paper to decorate and white cardstock for the sentiment.  Thank You by inkadinkado.

Can't show you the other card I made as its for my husbands birthday later this month.  You will have to wait till the day!!

Saturday was just as much fun!  I saw this great post on Facebook for making an inkpad holder out of cardstock.  Now as I am so new to this craft, I actually only have 6 ink pads.  I know....I know...give me time.  As much as I would love to have one of the Stampin Up colour caddy's, I just can't afford it at the moment....so using the instructions and video I found on Facebook...I made my own!!  What do you think????

Then today, Sunday...my lovely hubby drove me into the city to Michael's, where I purchased my first embossing heat tool, some itty bitty punches and Stampendous! Birthday Wishes clear stamps. It's going to be a fun evening!!

Off to check out some challenges, and try out my new purchases.

Cheers

Clean and Simple - Be Mine

I got home from work tonight, feeling very grumpy....not sure why.  Maybe I was hungry ...maybe I was tired....maybe I didn't feel like driving into the city, whatever it was, I started to feel better when I went into my craft room later this evening to make this challenge.  Paper crafting is so relaxing.

This weeks challenge from CAS Colours & Sketches, made me turn my head this way, and that.  Hope you like it.

I used Stampin Up Rose Red cardstock as my base card, then added white cardstock at an angle and a heart from the January Stampin Up Paper Pumpkin.  Stamped with Watermelon Wonder...and added a few sequins.

First Challenge Ever...

So one of the reasons I wanted to start a blog, was to join in some of the card sketches and colour challenges that are out there.  I didn't really understand what a card sketch and/or colour challenge was at first....having only been making cards for 3 months.  My Stampin Up rep Sandy, usually comes up with a card idea for our group, or I copy one from a magazine.  So to come up with my own design based on a template (card sketch) or colour challenge sounded like lots of fun. Especially when you see all the other cards people are posting.

So here is my first attempt at a card sketch.  I hope I can figure out how to upload and link to The Paper Players.  Be gentle on me.

I used blue cardstock from Michael's to make the base card, and All A Bloom paper from Stampin Up. The little flower in the centre was a stamp from Inkadinkado - Floral Inspiration.

Thought this would be a great card for a man....not too fussy.

Hope you like it.

Hello.....

Hello and welcome to my new blog - Colourful Cards, Treats & Treasures.  So what is this all about??   It's a place for me to tell you about....

My new passion, card making.  Yes, I have a friend to thank for taking me to my first Stampin Up card party and discovering the joy of paper crafts.

Tea and treats. I am a Steeped Tea rep, just for fun and love hosting monthly tea parties for my friends.  I spoil them with fabulous home made treats, and scrumptious loose leaf tea.

My treasures....which could be anything from my family, my favourite places, a knitting pattern or a good book.

So stop by often while I share my Colourful Cards, Treats and Treasures.

Cheers
