Launch Class

I had the best time last night!!    Ten, yes, TEN of my friends came over to celebrate the launch of my Stampin Up business.  A couple of ladies from work, a delightful 10 year old, both my son's girlfriends, a wonderful friend from my neighborhood who had moved away, her daughter, two of my tea bestie's and even a surprise guest.

Because there wasn't enough room around my dinning room table, we dragged the kitchen table into the dinning room/living room and grabbed chairs from wherever we could, but it worked.  Alfie (my almost 14 year old toy poodle) wasn't sure what to make of it all but certainly enjoyed the attention.  Sasha, the cat....took off and hid.

I presented all my guests with a hand stamped and coloured bookmark as a thank you for attending...and then we dove straight into making a card. This one!

The ladies used the sweet little rose from the Birthday Blooms Clear Mount Stamp Set, stamping it in all directions across the base card front, using Basic Black Archival Stampin Pad.    They used Whisper White Card Stock for the base, cut in half at 4 1/4" and folded in half and scored at 5 1/2".   After tying a black piece of satin ribbon around the bottom of the card front, the next step was to adhere a piece of black cardstock to a piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock which had been embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.   The final piece of thick Whisper White Cardstock stamped with the rose and "for you" was popped up on some Stampin Dimensionals, after it had been coloured with Blushing Bride Marker and some Old Olive using the Blender Pen technique.  These are fast becoming my favourite Stampin Up item!!

The ladies added some "new" Clear Wink of Stella Glitter to the rose and a tiny Rhinestone.

If you would like to know the sizes of the laying pieces of card, please contact me and I will be happy to pass them on.   I will be sharing news about my upcoming Classes and Stamping Club shortly so keep checking the blog, or contact me for more details.

Mojo Monday

Time for another sketch challenge....this time I thought I would try Mojo Monday.

I happened to see this sketch come up in my Facebook feed this evening, and thought...ooh good excuse to use my new Have a Cuppa Designer Series paper and Cups and Kettle Framelit Die's.  So many possibilities with this set...especially the A Nice Cuppa stamps too.  I can see some great Mother's Day cards coming from this set.  Today however, I settled on making an Anniversary card.

Hope you like it?

Friday is Launch.....

I am so excited....Friday evening is my Stampin Up Launch party.  Spent the entire weekend working on some thank you gifts for my guests, making a sample of the card we will all make and of course cutting out the pieces required for each guest.  Their own little baggie of fun.   The particular stamp we are going to use, I have fallen madly in love with....so will they I think too!!  I can't wait to demonstrate it, and watch as my guests enjoy the fun of making it while learning a new technique.

I also have a Stampin Up website now too, where you can check out the new products, weekly deals and see my upcoming events.  As I set up more Classes and Workshops, you will want to stop by often.

Check it out www.colourfulcards.stampinup.net

Box of Delights

Wednesday was such an exciting day.....not only did my Paper Pumpkin kit arrive from Stampin Up, but my Demonstrator starter kit did too!!!  I couldn't decide what to open first.  Turned out I could open neither, as we had to drive into the City straight after work to visit my hubby's step mother in her new home.  It was pretty late by the time we got home...but I have to admit, I did rip open the boxes and steal a peek!!

Talking of boxes, I am really enjoying the entire papercraft world.  Cards were my craft of choice at first, but watching video's on Youtube and seeing fabulous boxes and bags on Pinterest...I naturally had to have a go.  Have to admit, I am becoming quite fond of them, all the scoring, cutting and folding.

Here is my latest....it will actually fit up to 4 cards and envelopes inside.  Cool!

Happy Valentine's Day

It's such a beautiful day today...so bright and sunny. Clear blue skies....and -22 with the windchill it's -29... So no, I won't be going out for a leisurely stoll today ha ha.  I am going to meet my two sons and step daughter for lunch today...hubby and I will be driving into the city for sushi. Not his favourite but he knows how much the kids all like it. Made these cute little boxes filled with sweeties for them last night ...and of course they each have a colourful card. Pictures of them to follow another day.

Happy Valentine's Day

Big News!!

Hello....have I got some big news for you!!  As some of you may know, this whole cardmaking, papercraft world is very new to me.  First discovered it in November last year, and since attending that first Stampin Up card class with a friend, am hooked.  Totally in love with card making.

I follow Stampin Up on Facebook, Youtube, Instagram...and have found several fabulous demonstrators from the UK, Canada and USA to follow on their blogs, Facebook, Youtube and Instagram sites too.  So it was only a matter of time before I joined. Which I did on Monday night!!

So stay tuned for more colourful cards...treats and treasures as I delve deeper into the exciting world of papercrafts.

Layering

I love layering and matting cards...think the first time I fell in love with this simple technique was at my first Stampin Up party last December. Had a bunch of my friends over and Sandy (the Stampin Up demonstrator) showed us how to make a beautiful black and white Christmas card. I wish I had kept it now...but gave it to some very special people, so it's all good.

Using that same technique and a card I CASE'd from one of my favourite Bloggers I made this card on Friday night.  Isn't it stunning??

I used a pre scored white card base from Michaels, then layered with Stampin Up Whisper White and Pool Party card stock.  Stamped this pretty flower from Inkadinkadoo Floral Inspirations and coloured it with Pool Party marker and Wild Wasabi.  Added a few sparkling rhinestones to the flower centres. So pretty.

Hope you like it??

Boxes & Bags

One of my favourite blogs to follow is Sam Hammond's.  She is a UK Stampin Up rep, and her blog can be found at pootle.co.uk    Sam often makes a video to go along with her projects and of course being from England myself, I love to listen to her accent. Makes me smile...brings back lovely memories.

This past few days, she has begun what she calls Pootles SpringWatch, and will post a video every day for the next 14 days showcasing the Spring/Summer catalogue and Sale-A-Bration products.  I decided to play along with her, and although I don't have half the stuff she does (many of which are now on my "must have" list) I grabbed what I had in my craft room and made the following.   Well pleased with how they turned out.

Have to say though...it took me two attempts for both ha ha.  Sam makes it look so easy, and I am still all fingers and thumbs at the moment.  Two days down....twelve to go, so exciting!!

Playing with the Paper Players

I so enjoyed playing with The Paper Players last week, that I decided to do it again!!  This week, the challenge is a Tic-Tac-Toe style.  You choose three squares, across, down or diagonally and using the words inside, make a card.

I choose to do the three squares down the left hand side.  Flowers; Die Cuts; Yellow.  Now, you have to promise not to show this card to my son....who is turning 25 in October...because this might just be for him???!!!

I used white card stock for the base card, a yellow card stock layer and then stamped a small piece of white card with pretty flowers from Number Of Years stamp set from Stampin Up. Then I stamped the 2 and 5 with Daffodil Delight to match the flowers and die cut them with the matching Number of Years Die's.  I added some ribbon and little sparkly gems.  The sentiment is a new stamp set I picked up this weekend at Michael's....Birthday Assortment from Stampendous.

Hope you like it??
